Tyrone S. Palmer is a writer and critical theorist who received his PhD from Northwestern University in 2019. His research interests include Black critical thought, affect theory, poetics, negativity, and metaphysics. His book manuscript in-progress explores how key Black literary and political texts theorize the failures of a universalist conception of affect to account for the grammars of feeling that emerge from the singularity of Blackness. His work has previously been published or is forthcoming in Qui Parle, Critical Ethnic Studies, Souls, and Callaloo. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Palmer has published cultural criticism and poetry in a number of venues, including The New Inquiry, Gawker, The Offing, Vinyl Poetry, and Complex.
