Michael Stanislawski is the Nathan J. Miller Professor of Jewish History at Columbia University. Professor Stanislawski received an AB, AM, and PhD from Harvard University, in 1973, 1975, and 1979 respectively. He currently sits on the editorial board of Shvut: Studies in Russian and Eastern European Jewish History and Culture. His PhD dissertation was published in 1983 as Tsar Nicholas I and the Jews: The Transformation of Jewish Society in Russia, 1825-1855. His other books include A Murder in Lemberg: Politics, Religion, & Violence in Modern Jewish History; Autobiographical Jews: Studies in Jewish Self-Fashioning; and Zionism and the Fin-de-Siecle: Cosmopolitanism and Nationalism from Nordau to Jabotinsky.
