Professor Campbell's research interests at present include the early-modern history of dreams and dream theory in light of developments in both representation (including poetry) and natural philosophy or science; and utopia, past and present. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Audrey Lumsden-Kouvel Fellowship at the Newberry Library, Chicago (2014), the Norman Fund Research Award (2012), a Norman Fund Research Travel Grant (2011), a Research Fellowship from the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (2004), a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Fellowship (2003), and a Guggenheim Fellowship (2003).
