Hannah Pivo is an art historian and media scholar who specializes in the history of graphic design and data visualization in Western Europe and the United States since the late nineteenth century. She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2026 and her current book project, "Prophetic Curves," investigates the rise of statistical and mathematical curves as tools of corporate decision-making in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Hannah’s work has appeared in the Journal of Design History, Design Issues, and Public Art Dialogue, as well as in exhibition catalogs on various topics in modern and contemporary art and design. Her research has been supported by the Cary Graphic Arts Collection at Rochester Institute of Technology, the Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture at Columbia University, the Center for the History of Business, Technology and Society at the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware, and the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History at the Duke University Libraries.
