David Russell, Society of Fellows alumnus 2012–2013, wrote an essay on the twentieth-century British psychoanalyst Marion Milner for The Paris Review.
In "Prescribing Creativity: The Meta-Diaries of Marion Milner," Russell notes, “Milner found psychoanalytic writing familiar with painful inhibition. She wanted to make room in it for creative exultation too—what she called ‘the yell of joy.’”
