The climate crisis did not develop in a vacuum. Using humanities and social science concepts can help us understand how these problems arose and ways to address them. The Center for Science and Society is excited to share a new environmental humanities grant opportunity: Columbia scholars and students can submit their ideas for incorporating cultural approaches in the study of nature and the world around us.

Projects must include a (co)-organizer who is a student or full-time employee (faculty, postdoc, researcher, undergraduate or graduate students) at Columbia University, Teachers College, or Barnard College.

Co-applicants from outside the university are welcome. Outside co-applicants must be affiliated with an incorporated community- or place-based nonprofit organization.
