The New York Times put out a list of "The Best Books of the Year (So Far)" on May 7, 2025, and listed the latest from Society of Fellows alumnus Brian Goldstone (2012–2015) among the top nonfiction books of 2025. They recommend There Is No Place for Us: Working and Homeless in America to those who "want a deep, personal dive into the housing crisis."

Brian Goldstone will take part in our SOF alumni conference capping a yearlong celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Society of Fellows in 2026.

"Written by a journalist who also has a Ph.D. in anthropology, this powerful book — an exceptional feat of reporting — details the plight of “the working homeless” in the rapidly gentrifying city of Atlanta, where someone with a full-time job can still get priced out of a place to live.
