Crooked Plow by Brazilian author Itamar Vieira Junior with translator Johnny Lorenz has been shortlisted for the International Booker Prize. The judges describe Crooked Plow as a "fascinating and gripping story about the lives of subsistence farmers in Brazil's poorest region." See what else the International Booker Prize judges had to say about Crooked Plow and all the shortlisted titles here.

The SOF/Heyman hosted Itamar Vieira Junior, Johnny Lorenz, and feminist scholar Keisha-Khan Perry for a discussion during the fall 2023 semester. We extend our congratulations to both author and translator.
