Applications for the Public Humanities Graduate Fellowship from the SOF/Heyman's Public Humanities initiative are now open. All current Columbia University PhD students with a concept for a public-facing project are welcome to apply. Deadline March 31, 2023.

About The Public Humanities Graduate Fellowship

The Society of Fellows and Heyman Center for the Humanities and Humanities New York (HNY) invite proposals from graduate students throughout the University to support public humanities programming.

The proposed projects must have public humanities at their core: each project must be aimed at public audiences, collaborate with the public in some way, or partner with community groups. Projects may be of any format; however, projects that are already in progress and that engage with issues of social just are especially welcome. We also allow collaborations of two or more students; however, applications should designate one project director. The grant provides research allowances of $4,000 to up to six graduate students. If successful, you will have up to one year to use the funds. Grantees will be required to submit a final report after the completion of the grant.

If you have a question about what costs the grant award would cover, please contact JM Chris Chang ([email protected]).
