CALL FOR MENTORS
Girls Write Now - Deadline: June 21st, 2021
For more than 23 years, Girls Write Now has been a nationally award-winning leader in arts education as New York City’s first and only writing and mentoring organization for girls and gender-expansive teens. A call for mentors is now open until June 21st.
Girls Write Now introduces NYC public high school girls and gender-expansive youth to women writers and digital media professionals from every discipline, who join GWN as mentors to pass on their craft. Mentors and mentees become crit partners, collaborators, and lifelong friends. A typical pair session can involve building on a work in progress, fine-tuning application essays for a college-bound senior, editing each other’s poems, or taking a field trip to places designed to inspire, like museums, movies, or a new neighborhood.
GWN mentors are professional women and gender expansive adults who rely on strong writing skills in their professions across a wide range of industries. Mentors work with mentees in a structured one-to-one relationship on set curriculum to produce original writing and hone college & career readiness skills with guidance from Girls Write Now staff and community.
