The Trilling Tapes series consists of 112 audio cassettes and 1 VHS tape of Lionel Trilling Seminars dating from 1979 to 2001. Many of these recordings have a corresponding manuscript text in the files, but in some cases, there is only a recording of a lecture and no paper transcript. These are available through the archival collections at Columbia University Libraries.
Columbia affiliates with an active UNI currently have remote access to these digitized files, which are linked in the online finding aid. External users will have to establish a Special Collections Research Account and make appointments at the Rare Book & Manuscript Library (RBML) in order to listen or watch this digitized content on a laptop provided onsite at the RBML. All users who wish to view any of the paper materials in this collection (Columbia affiliates or external researchers) will have to establish accounts, make appointments and request boxes for use in the on-site reading room. Please consult the RBML website for further details on visiting and access. Any further questions about access to this content can be directed to [email protected].
