Colm Tóibín, the Irene and Sidney B. Silverman Professor of the Humanities in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, is the multiple-award-winning author of numerous stories, poems, libretti, essays, and novels, among them Brooklyn, Long Island, The Master, Nora Webster, and The Magician. Tóibín will read selectively from his new collection of short stories, The News from Dublin, which explores ideas of family, loss, longing, love, and exile across Ireland, Spain, and the United States. He will converse with Andreas Huyssen, Villard Professor of German and Comparative Literature Emeritus, and be introduced by Jean Howard, George Delacorte Professor Emerita in the Humanities.
