Join composer George Tsz-Kwan Lam for a presentation about his new work Family Association: an interactive sound walk experience in Manhattan's Chinatown that combines recorded oral history interviews and music inspired by the recorded speech.
The event will begin with a brief presentation by George Tsz-Kwan Lam. After the presentation, participants are invited to walk together to the Chinatown neighborhood and experience the sound walk on their own smart phones. It is recommended that participants bring their own smart phones and earbuds/headphones.
This event will take place at Speyer Hall at University Settlement (184 Eldridge Street). University Settlement requires that all attendees wear face masks at 184 Eldridge Street, and to not congregate in any areas inside of the building other than Speyer Hall. University Settlement does not require proof of vaccination, but highly suggests it.
Family Association is co-presented by The Performance Project at University Settlement and MATA (Music At The Anthology).
